Lois Tozer - R. Tozer Construction Ltd.

Lois Tozer is a woman in a man’s world. She is described as a strong woman with a compassionate heart.
Working in the construction business since 1987, Lois has seen her company grow from one truck and a tractor to today’s fleet of trucks, tractors, excavator, loaders and other construction equipment. Once a small, family owned and operated business, R. Tozer Construction Ltd has evolved to bigger jobs such as secondary road building, many large infrastructure projects, concrete foundations and landscaping.
Generosity and empathy are two of the things Lois is known for most. She often takes on smaller jobs, or offers complimentary services for families in crisis or need. Her employees are always top of mind with her and she enjoys opening her home for staff recognition events to show her appreciation.
Lois is the owner of R. Tozer Construction Ltd; but also Vice-President of The Josie Foundation, a charitable organization that gives to people in need during terminal illnesses and medical crisis; a Director of the Southwest PC Association; Director for Miramichi Valley Bible Camp and Chairperson for the fundraising committee at MVBC and former owner of Miramichi City Speedway; as well as friend to many sports teams.
She lends her hand at fundraising, never wanting any credit in return. Friends and family know Lois for her big-hearted and open-handed ways, saying many of the actions are not known by others and ‘no’ is never the answer. Lois gets the job done. Her dedication and talent to take on many tasks demonstrates her high level of efficiency and accuracy.

Female Professional Excellence of the Year
This award recognizes an outstanding woman who is acknowledged in her field for her professional leadership. She is committed to excellence, creates and inspires a positive work environment and influences and motivates positive change in her profession, trade or workplace.
Margaret Sullivan - NBCC Miramichi

Margaret Sullivan is from Chatham Head and is the daughter of the late William (Billy) and Kathleen (Kay) Sullivan.
Margaret has been an instructor at NBCC Miramichi for 14 years. Currently working on her second Masters, she has dedicated much of herself to the field of education, prevention and awareness.
Described as a lifelong learner, she continues to upgrade her education and certifications in her field, completing research in the fields of education, social work and adult education. She has also had her research published and presented papers at scholarly meetings and has presented at conferences, both nationally and internationally.
Margaret is seen as a role model for her students and graduates of the programs through the work in the courses she teaches. She is respectful of her ethics and professionalism. An avid volunteer at work and within the community of Miramichi, she is a hardworking, passionate, committed leader that has gone above and beyond not only in her instructor role but as a mentor and role model in our community.
Margaret has assisted many community groups with proposals for funding including the Outreach Program, Miramichi Family Violence Partnership Committee and the Miramichi Emergency Shelter for Women. She has sat on numerous boards including the New Brunswick Child and Youth Care Association and Miramichi Emergency Shelter for Women.
Margaret has organized and assisted with many educational events and conferences at NBCC including ‘Take Back the Night’, ‘Silent Witness’ program awareness, and ‘No Such Thing as a Bad Kid’ conference with Charles Appelstein. She is a religion teacher at her parish, a volunteer for the Chatham Head Oldtimers tournament, a supporter of the local Christmas Families program, and so much more.
Margaret tirelessly lends her support and expertise to many volunteer tasks at NBCC, in our community, and beyond.

Judy Losier

Lifelong Miramichi resident, Judy Losier is credited for her support in making Miramichi a better place to live. Described by her peers as someone who excels in every aspect of her life, Judy puts her family as her priority while making time for her community.
Judy Losier is known for her involvement in the areas of health care, arts and culture, church and youth development. Her healthcare involvement spans many years after serving on the board of mental health, a board member of the Miramichi Regional Hospital Foundation and friend of Mount St. Joseph.
In the world of arts and culture, Judy has been determined to bring a greater mix to Miramichi by volunteering with many organizations on the river from the Miramichi Irish Festival to the judge for oratory competitions and school talent shows. Judy is also known for her years of acting in local theatre productions and she is a friend of TNB, sitting on the local Theatre NB committee to ensure that the Miramichi is part of the TNB experiences.
Helping children, especially the less fortunate has been very important to Judy. She has dedicated many volunteer hours being involved in organizations such as Miramichi Big Brothers Big Sisters and various home and school associations.
Judy also mentors students at the high school and university levels, seeking guidance to apply for scholarships or preceptorship. Judy is currently sitting on the Parent council of James M Hill for the 2012 2013 school term. Her University degree in Psychology will be an asset to the members of this Board.
Making a difference in her church has been another priority for Judy. She has served as past advisory council member appointed by Bishop Father MacDonald for three years and as religious education teacher and lector for Saint Michael’s Basilica for 24 years.
A public speaker, popular emcee and Chatham Rotarian, Judy Losier’s love and passion for Miramichi and surrounding communities is apparent in her dedication and leadership.

Brooke Hamilton

Brooke Hamilton is our 2012 Young Woman of Influence. This award recognizes an outstanding young woman between the ages of 18 and 29, who is respected and admired for her leadership, achievements and contributions to her school, workplace and/or community and is a positive influence on her peers. She has shown perseverance, maturity, innovation and compassion and is "making her mark".
Brooke is currently employed as the Executive Director for the Miramichi Chamber of Commerce since the Spring of this year. She started her position a few weeks before she completed her graduation requirements from Mount Allison University where she completed her Bachelor of Commerce. She has been described by her employers as a very professional, organized and motivated young woman who is genuinely interested in the economic development of the Miramichi Region.
Brooke has been involved in many community projects and events for the Chamber since her employment commenced. She is currently working with a committee to organize the upcoming second annual New Year’s Masquerade for the Chamber being held here at the Rodd. She also organized and planned the annual Chamber’s awards gala held in November with many in attendance. In addition to these events, Brooke is involved with executive director tasks and responsibilities such as attending and organizing committee meetings, preparing minutes, and keeping Chamber members informed on business and economic developments.
Brooke is truly respected for her leadership, achievements, and contributions to the Miramichi Region. Her project work and roles have positively contributed to the economic development of our region and her community involvement is a positive influence to the young demographic in our area. April Dickson

Described as one of the kindest souls, April Dickson is passionate about her clients and offering them the utmost best service.
April is a Mortgage Consultant with The Mortgage Centre/ Estate Mortgages Inc. Since November of 2007 she has been diligently assisting her clients with mortgage purchases, refinances, renewals, new construction, self employed programs and more. Prior to being a Mortgage Consultant, April was employed with HSBC Finance as Financial Associate. This is where she had found her passion.
After organizational restructuring at HSBC, the Miramichi office closed, however, her spark was soon reignited when Guy Richard contacted her with a request to join him at his Local Mortgage Centre. April jumped at the opportunity to become his business partner and has loved every minute of making a difference in the financial futures of her clients.
April has always been passionate about her clients and her business. Nonetheless, over the past 24 months, those close to her have noticed very positive changes in her approach, involvement and her application of herself to her business. April has an endless capacity for developing trusting relationships with her clients, business partners and community members.
Her dedication to professional development and learning more about her business has led her to become a true professional in the mortgage industry. In 2011, The Mortgage Centre Miramichi finished 1st within their Estate Mortgage Inc - Mortgage Centre Canada franchise and within the top 3 for in Eastern Canada for the entire Mortgage Center Canada company.
Family and community involvement are other important aspects of April’s life. She is passionate about spending time with her family and is a large part of her nieces and nephews lives. April is also a member of WOMEN, MYPIE, the Miramichi Chamber of Commerce and a supporter of many other local business groups or activities that aim at "reviving" the Miramichi as a great place to work and live. April is also very passionate about her home community of Napan and the Napan Agricultural Show, where she is a Board member.
